About Acorn Day Nursery

Acorn day Nursery provides a happy, safe and stimulating environment for children between the ages of six weeks to school age. Acorn offers a full range of activities throughout the day with the emphasis on safe, supervised outdoor play in the beautiful Fife countryside on our doorstep. Activities vary daily, according to the seasons and/or topics covered in the pre-school curriculum. Each day, the structure of the day is displayed on the wall of the nursery for parents perusal and involvement. We welcome parent involvement in all areas of the nursery and should you wish to come and read to the children, bake or simply garden with them, please dont hesitate to get in touch!

Why choose Acorn

Acorn Day Nursery keeps the number of children in the nursery low to ensure that your child gets the individual care and attention that they deserve. Children under three are looked after in a purpose-built unit with space for 16 children. We offer a home-from-home environment with lots of stimultion and fun. Our ethos is that every child deserves to be the number one priority and our goal is to ensure that their initial experiences in life are positive, warm and happy. We emphasise outdoor play and healthy eating. The nursery is open from 8.00am until 6.00 pm each day, closing only for one week each year, between Christmas and New Year.

What the parents say

From the first day our son started at Acorn we have always been warmly welcomed. He has smiled every day since starting at Acorn and who wouldn’t with a menu such as he has (brioche, strawberries, curries, fish cakes ) coupled with a rich learning and sharing environment, horses, cows, sheep and chickens to say hello to every morning and caring arms to give him a hug. We couldn’t be happier with our choice.

A wonderful place. Our child was only visiting St. Andrews for a few months, but quickly came to love his teachers and all the outdoor activities. Cannot say enough good things about the staff. A great nursery, with a great atmosphere, situated on a farm.
Acorn were excellent at helping my daughter settle in with a gradual process over an extended period of time. They have been fine with doing baby led weaning and were happy to give expressed milk for me while my daughter was under one years old. Acorn is easily the best nursery in the area and I’d happily recommend them to anyone!

Excellent nursery. Great environment, friendly, capable staff. Happy children who are stimulated and alert. Educational and developmental needs taken very seriously but in a fun way! Meals are home cooked on a daily basis with healthy and varied menu provided. I would recommend Acorns as a great home away from home. My little one has been there since she was 18 months old.
