Acorn Day Nursery uses the Pre-Birth to Three and the Curriculum for Excellence as our guiding influence for learning. Children between the ages of three and five are offered Government funding for part of their nursery session and during this time children follow the pre-school curriculum. Pre-School children have a Personal Learning Plan which monitors the childs progress, contains samples of their work and photographs of their achievements at nursery and at home. The Personal learning Plan (or PLP) is shared with both the nursery and their parents, each free to add anything they feel has been achieved by the child. When moving onto Primary School, each child takes their PLP with them which allows their teacher to follow their development and to see what stage they are at.
Please observe the nursery policy as regards a sick child (Please refer to Terms and Conditions)
Our Policies – ILLNESS
Coughs and colds are acceptable, unless they are virulent, but any child on antibiotics, should be withdrawn from the nursery for 48 hours. Should antibiotics be prescribed, one dosage must be given at home before a child is allowed back at nursery in case of severe reaction.
Any diarrhea/vomiting to remain away from nursery for 48 hours following last bout
All children with infectious illnesses/rashes/spots should remain at home until better.
Children in nappies should bring their days supply with them. We also require that you supply your child with a named pack of wipes and a pot of nappy cream also with their name on it. (We will let you know when you require more)
Our Policies – PREPARATIONS
All creams and preparations used for the skin are regarded as a medicine and written consent for its use must be given. All clothes and personal belongings should be named/labelled as unfortunately Acorn cannot be held responsible for articles that go missing from the premises.
During winter months, a pair of welly boots are advisable and a pair of soft shoes/slippers for indoor use.
