Health and Well-being

The heath and well-being of your children is our number one concern at Acorn Day Nursery, we pride ourselves on providing a nurturing and caring environment for your children which helps them thrive.

We go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that your children’s needs are at the centre of our thinking.

We follow the Scottish Government’s principles on ‘Getting it Right for Every Child’ ensuring that your child is happy and nurtured in the same way as you would expect if they were with you at home.

Cuddles are part of our nursery and are a daily occurrence in both rooms, we feel that promoting a nurturing environment is key to helping your child grow and develop.

We believe that a child’s health and well-being is the starting point for all children attending Acorn Day Nursery. We focus on a child’s health and well-being by talking about feelings and emotions all the time and doing lots of activities around this. We feel that if a child’s health and well-being is good then they will be really good learners.

Sometimes families need that little bit of extra support when things get a little tough. We are on hand to support a family if they are going through these times. We have robust child protection and adult protection policies in place at the nursery and will support any family who finds themselves in this situation.

We are always guided by the Fife Council’s social work contact centre if we must raise a concern who will make an assessment and guide us on what steps to take next. While sometimes this this can be emotional and stressful to deal with a situation like this, the staff are all fully trained and understand the obligations placed on them to keep a child safe.

We will seek to keep parents informed at much as possible of any actions we are asked to take by Fife Council should a situation arise. We understand that these can be difficult times for parents and carers so we want to you to know that we will support you and your family as much as we can in any of these situations.
